Today, we were making origamy doves in memory of Martin Luther King Jr, because its his birthday today. This is how we made them......all you need is a square piece of paper and a pair of sissors.
1. You need to fold your peice of paper in half(from edge to edge) and then open it back up.
2. After that you fold the the corners into the crees you have just made (like a paper airerplan)
3. Fold it in half again(on your original crees)
4. Know you should have trapeiseam, (make sure the longer edge is at the top), take the tip of your shape and fold it down so about an inch of your paper is showing, then fold it back on its self a few times.
5. Once you have done that open you paper up again and push down the crees in the centre, then fold it back up again.
6. This is where your sissors come in handie. Cut a diagonal, going up, (about half way) at the opposite end of the head.
7. Then cut a straight line from the bottom to meet the end of your other cut.
8. Taking the bottom corner, fold it up so about half an inch is showing and do the same on the other side.
if you would like pictures of the dove or picture instructions e-mail the school.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the noble art of origami. I'm a black belt in it and love folding paper into all sorts of shapes. I particularly like to make origami books from one sheet of paper. remember to keep your creases as neat and as crisp as possible. Use the back of your nail to rub down the crease and it will be fantastic. Enjoy the rest of your paper folding time. All good things. from Captain Origami esquire.
